Lesa Kay Schafer, 64, of Canadian, stepped into her new heavenly adventure on Friday, June 7, 2024, in Canadian.
Graveside Services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Ellis County, Oklahoma with Shawn Davis officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
Lesa Kay Stewart was born January 6, 1960, to Clent and Patsy Stewart in Pampa. She attended Pampa schools and graduated with the class of 1978. While attending Pampa schools she was active in 4-H, FFA, THSRA, showing pigs, team roping and breakaway roping. Following graduation Lesa met Billy Wayne Schafer at a team roping. They were married on November 12, 1979, and moved to the Washita River south of Canadian. They later moved closer to Canadian. Lesa was a hard worker, she worked at Canadian Vet Clinic and worked for Canadian ISD for 20+ years. Lesa and grandson Easton raised show pigs for stock shows. She was a member of the Texas Pork Producers. Being a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, she was an avid history buff. Lesa enjoyed gardening, fishing, stock shows, OU football, Wildcat football, dogs, pigs, horses, peacocks and chickens. She was Easton’s biggest fan on the football field and in the show ring.
Lesa was preceded in death by her father, Clent Stewart and mother-in-law, “Granny” Sue Schafer.
Those left to celebrate Lesa’s memory are her husband, Billy W Schafer of the home; 2 daughters, Katie Schafer and Jesus Perez of Canadian, Patsy Kincannon and husband Derek of Abra; grandsons, Easton Schafer, Jasper Kincannon; mother, Patsy Stewart of Pampa; sister, Lena Lowrey and husband Lee of Pampa; father-in-law, Billy Schafer of Canadian; brother-in-law Lindsey Schafer and wife Julia of Canadian; 2 sisters-in-law, Cindy Long and husband Walter of Miami, Sandra Young and husband Jeff of Canyon; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other family members and special friends.
