Nancy Ruth Schwerzenbach

September 9, 1960 — March 1, 2021

Nancy Ruth Schwerzenbach, 60, of Canadian passed away on March 1, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday March 6, 2021 at First United Methodist Church of Canadian with Pastor David Gerhardt  officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Nancy was born September 9, 1960 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Don and Mary Esther Rader. She graduated from Canadian High School in 1979 and went to earn her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in fashion merchandising and home economics with a minor in earth sciences. On July 5, 1986 she married Christoph Schwerzenbach in Canadian. She has been a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Canadian. As a child Nancy was active in 4-H, learning skills she enjoyed throughout her life such as sewing and cooking. In college, she was an active member of the OSU band, like her parents before her, and a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was a teacher of many students in many settings, from the public-school systems of all ages from pre-kindergarten through high school, to her dozens of "piano kids" over the years. Nancy was an avid teacher and supporter of home schooling with her granddaughter Eden. She began playing the piano at the Canadian Methodist Church as a young teenager and continued through the next four decades. She enjoyed sewing projects of all kinds and working in her yard. Those who knew Nancy would tell you that she always had a project going on and that she was always eager to try her hand at a new skill, whether it was learning to frame out a wall or helping her kids with home projects.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Chris of the home; 2 daughters, Rachel Schwerzenbach and partner Josh Kirkhart and Caroline Crouch and husband Doug all of Canadian; son, Sam Schwerzenbach and wife Shelby of Canadian; 2 grandchildren, Eden Kirkhart and Henry Crouch; her mother, Mary Esther Rader of Canadian; 3 sisters, Catherine Barney and husband Ronnie of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Judith Mann and husband Matt of Canadian, and Mary “Betsy” Alexander and husband Tim of Canadian; brother, Stephen Rader and wife Linda of Canadian; 8 nieces and nephews, Chris Barney, Mollie Barney Godwin, Justin Rader, Haley Rader Ward, Sarah Rader, Ryan Alexander, Annie Alexander Wells, and Emily Alexander.

She is preceded in death by her father, Don Wyatt Rader and a brother, Don Wyatt Rader, Jr.

Memorials can be sent to First United Methodist Church of Canadian, PO Box 1343, Canadian, Texas 79014.
