Pat was born December 28, 1932, in Canadian, Texas, to Paul and Jewell McMeans. She graduated from Canadian High School in 1951 and, that same year on June 7, married her high school sweetheart, Bill Popham. They shared more than 54 years of marriage until his passing on September 21, 2005.

Pat worked in the banking industry for 37 years, retiring in 1997. She was active in the Panhandle Women’s Banking Association and even served as president.

Pat lived a life of service to her community and her church. She was a member of ESA Sorority, the Women’s Service League, Rotary, and volunteered faithfully with Hemphill County Hospice. Music was one of her greatest gifts. She sang at her first funeral at the age of sixteen, and for more than seventy years she served as the pianist for the Canadian Rotary Club. She also played the piano and organ and led Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, sharing her faith and love of music with generations of families. In 1992, she was honored as Woman of the Year, a reflection of her servant’s heart and the many lives she touched.

Above all, Pat will be remembered for her faith, her kindness, and her deep love for her family. Her life was a testament to quiet service, music, and love, and her legacy will continue in the many lives she shaped.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jewell McMeans; her sisters, Sarah Ramp and Nona Hutcheson; and her brother, Jim McMeans, and nephew John Ramp.

She is survived by her son, Keith Popham and wife Rhonda; and her daughter, Sally Anderson and husband Joe. She was a beloved “Nannie” to her grandchildren; Sarah Collins and husband Michael, Cole Popham and wife Lindsay, Ray Anderson and wife Caitlin, Gary Popham and wife Sarah, Gordon Anderson and wife Ann, and Jackson Anderson and girlfriend Leann Sandridge. She was also a proud great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren; Aiden Collins, Madeline Collins, Tristan Collins, Grayson Popham, Dillon Collins, Nolan Popham, Lillian Popham, Colton Popham, and Pecos Anderson. She was known lovingly as “Aunt Pat” to her nieces Elizabeth Lewis, Mary Jane Wheeler, and Lori Ann McMorrough, and nephews Jim Ramp, Paul McMeans, and Gary Bob Hutcheson.

Pat was deeply loved and cared for in her later years by her devoted caregiver, Nancy Ocasio.
