Ronnie Wayne Hill

Ronnie Wayne Hill, 72, of Canadian, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Canadian with his family by his side.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 28, 2024, at the Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with Joe Shadle and Brother Rick Timmons, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Ronnie was born on July 7, 1953, to Howard Wayne and Jessie “Sunny” Browning Hill. He grew up living on ranches all over the panhandle while his father worked as a ranch hand. Ronnie graduated from Wheeler High School in 1972 and immediately went to work at the Wheeler Feed Yard. He met Cathy Pike at a volleyball game in 1976, and it was love at first sight. They were married that same year on July 2, 1976, and were later blessed with two sons, Shawn and Travis.

Ronnie was a determined man; he would accomplish anything he set out to do. He enjoyed fly fishing, but only when he was catching something. Ronnie also enjoyed traveling with Cathy after they retired, they especially enjoyed going to Arkansas. Most importantly, Ronnie loved his family. He adored his children and grandchildren. Ronnie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Howard and Sunny Hill; and one brother, Patrick Steven Hill.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cathy Hill of the home; two sons, Shawn Steven Hill and wife Cheryl and Travis Wayne Hill and wife Ada, all of Canadian; eight grandchildren, Tiegin Hill, Kendal Hill, Braiden Galla and wife Maci, Landon Galla, Easton Galla and Roper Davina, Camryn Galla, Shaylee Hill, and Flint Hill; one great-grandchild, Wrenley Davina; several cousins; and numerous friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hemphill County Hospice for the kindness and care they showed Ronnie in his final days.
