Shirley Ann Flowers

Shirley Bowerman Flowers, 86, of Canadian stepped into her heavenly home on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Wheeler.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Canadian with Dr. Matt Phenix. Burial will follow at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Shirley Ann Seago was born April 26, 1939, in Wellington to Samuel Alfred Seago and Willie Emma Nixson Seago. She attended and graduated from Samnorwood High School. Shirley also attended Amarillo College obtaining her Activity Certification. She was a dedicated woman with a heart for serving and caring for others. Shirley loved and cared for the residents of the Edward Abraham Memorial Home for forty-four years and four months. She moved to Canadian in 1968 with her son, Randy. Shirley married James Flowers on August 6, 1976. At the age of 60 she received into her heart and home Paul Baker, a bonus great grandson, she loved and cherished him as her own. Shirley’s generous spirit extended beyond her family; her generosity was quietly shared throughout the community. Shirley was recognized as Canadian’s Woman of the Year in 1986. She had a money jar in her office at EAMH, the staff knew if they needed a little extra it was available, just replace it when they could. Shirley was baptized on October 8, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in Miami. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canadian. Shirley will be remembered for her fun spirit, beautiful smile and “heart of Gold”.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Willie Seago; husbands, Dennie Bowerman and James Flowers; sister and brother-in-law Billie and Gordon Daugherty; brother-in-law Charles Roberts; nephew Ray Dwyer; aunt Mary Carter; special friends and neighbors Frankie Hill and Ona Bentley.

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her son, Randy Bowerman; bonus grandson Paul Baker; nephew, Charles Roberts and wife Mary Alice; nieces, Connie Farrar and husband Terry and Debbie Simpson and husband David; great nieces, Lindsey Krehbiel and husband Frank, and Charla Cook; great nephews, Scott Roberts, Landon Dwyer,  Andy Simpson, and Nick Simpson; great great nephews, Trae Dwyer and Christian Gutierrez.
