Sylvia Kay Wilson was born in Canadian, Texas, to Robert and Margaret Latham Wilson on May 10, 1965. On April 15, 2010, she married the love of her life, Kip Francis. Sylvia was the best wife, mom, grandmother, sister, and friend anyone could ask for. Family always came first, and she poured her heart into loving and enjoying her children and grandchildren.
A creative and generous soul, Sylvia had a vibrant spirit that lit up every room. She never met a stranger and made friends effortlessly. Her hands were rarely still—she loved crafts of all kinds, from sewing and crocheting to jewelry making and more. Many people were blessed to receive heartfelt gifts made by her loving hands. She loved unconditionally, protected fiercely and never faltered in step for those she loved.
Sylvia found peace in nature. Whether it was birdwatching, walking through the woods, or casting a line with her family by the river, she cherished every moment outdoors. Her love for animals was just as deep. She raised baby raccoons and opossums. Most recently, she worked at adopting a family of crows in the new home she lovingly referred to as her sanctuary. Sylvia was full of laughter and had a playful, mischievous side; she was known for her love of pranks and her sharp sense of humor.
Above all, Sylvia was a woman of unshakable faith. In hard times, she would often remind others, “This too shall pass.” Her faith carried her through many seasons, and it is what ultimately guided her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, RC and Margaret; 2 brothers, Belmontie Rayfield Wilson and Alex Eugene Beck; a son, Christopher David Butler and a grandson, Christopher “C.J.” David Butler.
